Renting makes sense for a single party, or when you want someone else to deliver and set up. Here are both sides, with the numbers and where they come from.

Buy if
- You'll use him every December, or for more than one event this season.
- You run events: a church, school, HOA, shop or office with a party every year.
- You want snow on short notice, without booking a delivery window.
- You're in a warm state. He runs on an outlet, so he works in Phoenix or Tampa.
Rent if
- It's a one-time party and you have nowhere to store a 27-inch snowman.
- You want someone to deliver, set up and pick up. Some rental companies include that.
- You need snow over a whole venue. He's a small-scale machine, so rent a bigger one.
- You want to try snow before you commit.
